I want to first thank everyone for there continued patronage. I knew I could leave this page in its 2020 form and know I wouldn’t have to touch it again until I was ready. It allowed me to focus on researching, community building, educating, and consulting and there’s a great deal of ground to cover but I’m going to do my best with this post. This
First off, I have taken an Equity and Belonging position at a new school in NYC. It pains me to leave the community I started my educational journey on but I have learned growth must not stop. This will also give me time to be here more often and sharing the information I have been gathering. Working at my previous institution has taught me how to navigate sustained conflict, especially as it adheres to race, and I will make that a separate post.
Secondly, consulting is going well! It is something I have not talked about officially but I’ve been able to consult with over 30 small and large businesses now, most recently at L’Oreal! and it has allowed me to learn a little more about what most places are facing post George-Floyd and there’s much more work to be done. We will talk about that too! Oh so many things to discuss!
Lastly, we’ve been microdosing the apocalypse for sometime now. It will not show up with a large bang, laws and policies will be stripped away until we are all resource-hoarding and unable look after our communities effectively. Roe v Wade, struggles with Mental Health, Affirmative Action, our dying healthcare system, our inability to reform policing in our communities as well as routing out corruption within our political system. I know for some, what I am naming is already at their doorstep and they are navigating these very real events as we speak. With all that is happening, be sure to take time to breathe and collect! Something has to give and do not let it be your mental health. It is important to remember that The Work does not stop so it will still be there when you get back to it, but you must get back to it. Your communities still need you!
I will be updating the site over the coming days and looking to build out a few areas of work now that I have enough data to work with! I hope you all are treating yourselves and one another well! We’re going to need it as we head into a pivotal election year in 2024. Back to it!
